RING THE BELL! The NBA Finals begin tonight in Toronto!
As the Golden State Warriors have ripped through the Western Conference over the past month they now enter the Finals for the 5th year in a row (a feat only matched by the 1960's Boston Celtics teams and most recently LeBron James). We now know who they will be facing from the East, the Toronto Raptors with Kawhi Leonard at the helm!
It will be interesting to see how the Warriors play due to Kevin Durant sitting out of Game 1 and may be out of the series altogether. If you recall, KD was injured during Game 5 of the Warriors/Rockets series with an apparent calf strain. If I were Steve Kerr I would hesitate on adding him to the lineup until he was 100% ready to go. Even without Durant, the Golden State Warriors are far from a team you want to underestimate with Chef Curry and PBS Thompson shooting lights out lately and their DEEP roster.
Toronto finally made it to the NBA Finals! Congrats to the team and the city with their epic fanbase and their awesome "Jurassic Park" outside of the Raptors' arena. They've finally gotten past Lebron & Co. over the last few years and with the addition of Kawhi have been playing great in the playoffs. I got a chance to see them play in Orlando and was amazed by how dominant they were. Every postseason the Raptors play well but hit a roadblock and ultimately crumble. This year things have changed and Kawhi "The Fun Guy" Leonard has been the catalyst for that change!
NBA Finals Game 1 Prediction: Warriors take The North by 5.
